Families are used to eating it regularly, and it\u2019s also found at plenty of street carts. It\u2019s often served in a pita with tahini or along with rice and salads making it a very convenient, plant-powered option. Don\u2019t use canned chickpeas or the texture will be completely off. Same for the herbs, onion and garlic &#8211; don\u2019t substitute them with powdered spices.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can add more or less of each ingredient listed in the recipe to adjust it to your taste buds. Falafel can have a pretty strong flavor, and can sometimes be spicy too, so you can adjust this for yourself or for the kids at home. However, keep an eye on the texture, it should still be able to come together enough to be deep fried.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can make it ahead and freeze for a future use. Thoroughly dry your chickpeas and process in a food processor along with the lima beans. Transfer to a bowl.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the same processor, without washing it, add the onion, parsley, and garlic. Process until pasty, not liquid. Add to the bowl with the chickpeas and the lima beans. Add salt to taste, coriander powder. Mix by hand, then add the cumin, zumet, baharat and baking powder. While it heats, make your falafel fix into small balls, then flatten with your hands until they are about 1 cm thick.
