The 2016 Worldwide Internships Generation!
I started working at Worldwide Internships in January 2016, as an International Recruiter. Everything was new to me because the position was totally different from what I was used to. I remember one of my first activities on my first day was to make an interview with someone from Trinidad and Tobago. I was scared (even more than the student!), nervous and a little bit confused with all the information I had to say to the candidate. One of my biggest fears was my English pronunciation because it’s not my native language. As time passed, interviews got easier. I learned the information about all the different programs we have, and of course, I started to love my job. It is amazing that in one day, I can get to know people from totally different countries.
The Worldwide Internships team began to grow fast! When I started working here, the team was formed by 6 members, and suddenly, we needed more people to recruit, to place and to give support to our candidates. The team was composed of 10 people by the middle of the year. The best thing about this is that I got to meet new friends and learn something special about every one of them. Also, it has been awesome because each of them has had different experiences abroad and now I know new tips about each place!
Worldwide Experience!
This year we had our first big event: “MEET & GO!” This has been one of my best experiences at Worldwide Internships so far. We had to plan every little detail, the food, the drinks, the schedule for the event, the place, the guests, and the music. It took us around 2 months to plan it. I was in charge of the decoration, the invitations, and the gifts we were going to give to our guests. When the big day finally arrived, we were really nervous about everything because we had some problems with the staff that rented us the place. Some major important things like ice for the drinks, umbrellas for our guests, and the music, were still missing 1 hour before the event. At the end, everything turned out perfectly because we fixed some details and took care of our main concerns that were our interns. It was amazing because we got to meet most of our Mexican candidates and they were happy with the event.
Finally, the first Worldwide Internships Generation got to travel a lot for business trips this year! The team got the opportunity to go to Thailand, China, Emirates, Spain, Argentina, Cancun, Punta Cana, among other places. This has been an incredible experience for the team because for most of us, this was our first business trip. It is different and challenging because you feel a great responsibility to not disappoint the rest of the company, but these opportunities make you grow as a person and as a professional.
As you can see, being a part of the 2016 Worldwide Internships Generation has been one of my best experiences ever!
