Landing an internship can be challenging, there are so many candidates eager to participate and make the most out of it. You might be swimming in a pool of candidates with an excellent CV and education just like you.
If this is your first experience hunting for an internship, it can be intimidating, but do not worry, here are our top tips to make this process easier.
Be an early bird!
If we could give just one piece of advice, would be this: start planning early.
Don’t make the most common mistake and plan your process, give yourself time to do the research, prepare and apply to different options and opportunities.
Keep in mind that most of the companies have processes and deadlines that you need to meet in order to apply for an internship program. Do not miss out important opportunities!
Don't be shy and ask for help!
Make use of your university’s careers services, you will find out that they can give you so many options and advice to succeed in your internship process.
Attend networking events and career fairs. These events, especially fairs, are full of companies searching for new talent, leaving a good impression during these events can even help you to bypass the application process (or at least part of it).
If you are looking to take your internship to an international level, your career center can also help you by providing contacts of international placement agencies that will help you with the placement and visa processes.
Polish your profile!
Your resume plays a unique role in this process, you need to have it 100% ready for action.
Ask your university center, a professor or even your friends to make sure your resume is readable and contains all of information needed to impress potential companies. Also, to catch typos or unclear writing that you may have missed.
Now, let the search begin!
