Why should I apply to an internship program? Is there a return on investment if I do it? What am I going to gain from this internship? Am I going to have some money saved up after I finish? What destination is the most convenient for me? Well, I have some answers for you!
In terms of economic compensation, you must be aware that you’re an intern so probably the stipend is not very high. If you’re going to the United States, then you’ll have a return of investment for sure! Of course, if you choose to go out to the best restaurants or shopping every day, then probably you won’t save so much.
What will you gain from this internship? I don’t even know where to begin with! First, you will most likely gain one of the most incredible experiences of your life. In my specific case, I did my internship 4 years ago at Walt Disney World, Florida. Would you believe me if I told you I still miss my days over there? I was living with 5 girls (shared housing can be crazy, but also incredibly fun!).
I had to go to the grocery store after long days of work, I had to cook for myself, get up early for my 5:30am shifts, etc.! All those experiences were the moments that made my internship amazing. You learn how to manage your money, your time, your food, and how to organize yourself. Maybe in terms of cash compensation, you will not be able to save as much money as you want, but I consider there are many more things that are way more important than money.
To answer your final question, every destination could be convenient for you! It will depend on what are you looking for. If you want something completely different from what you’re used to, maybe Emirates or Thailand would be perfect for you; if you want to practice your language skills, France, Caribbean, or Spain would be your best option. The best advice I can give you is: be open to everything. Everything is going to depend on your attitude, your effort, and the way you see things!
I promise you will never regret doing an internship abroad!
