Here are some tips to help you write your internship resume.
1. Include action words that highlight your skills.
The experiences such as summer or part-time jobs are not a waste, do not hesitate to include the skills you might have developed in those positions using action words such as, led, managed, maintained, operated, recommended, etc.
Here are some examples:
- Communicated with customers, managed requests, and shared complaints with manager to help make improvements
- Managed cash register drawer of $400.00
Many of the skills acquired from unrelated experiences can be put in your resume. The key is to find ways to demonstrate your dedication, dependability, creativity, and work ethic with the right words.
2. List relevant courses or projects you have experienced.
Employers want to see what classroom experience and software knowledge you can bring to the company. If you put a business plan together in coursework, you can include it in your resume because this will demonstrate your ability to work in teams as well as your ability to lead projects from start to finish. Companies are looking for interns with fresh insight so don’t be afraid of highlighting what you’ve learned.
3. List your leadership activities or volunteer experiences.
All the activities you realized outside of the university can be listed in your resume, especially if you had a leadership position. If you ever have volunteered, this is worth noting too. Employers seek people with personality, so be sure to include this kind of information.
