The Best Business Trip of 2016
Whenever I hear the term “Business trip” my heart skips a beat. After doing my first business trip to Europe this year, I realized that it is the best way to get to know new countries, cultures, people and of course network to reach your business goals.
When I first started studying hospitality I wasn’t sure if I picked the right degree for me, I only knew that I wanted to travel and get to experience as many different cultures as possible. I actually never imagined to do it while working for a Company that I love!
For me, getting ready for the business trip is as exciting as the trip itself. It is when I get to reach and pick all the companies that we will be doing business with, and even though it is a bit stressful to have everything on time, it is still enjoyable, challenging and motivating.
I had 2 business trips in 2016. The first one to Spain and France and the second one to Thailand and UAE. In both of them I had amazing experiences, but personally speaking the second one was more challenging due to the results needed, we started to expand to Asia and open the headquarters there so right now I can say that my knowledge of accounting and law improved, but what I never imagined is that I would be able to have this knowledge in Thai!
Even though it was a long time for a business trip (2 months), I can say without any doubt that Thailand and UAE were the best business trip I’ve had so far, and it was even more enjoyable because I had the time to travel around Asia during the weekends. At the end, I ended up adding 5 new stamps to my passport!
ANY kind of trip recommendations!
- Solo travel is the best, it pushes you to make local friends and get the most out of the culture.
- Try to walk everywhere instead of using a taxi, it gives you the opportunity to experience the place at its fullest.
- Learn to cook local food, it is amazing to bring home at least something simple that will remind you of your time there.
- Don’t be afraid to change your plans, when you are open for adventure is when you are able to have life lasting memories.
I´m sure you cannot wait for your next trip just as me, but in the meantime, here’s a tip that you can use right away. Go look at your passport, see every single stamp you have in it, then think about a happy, challenging, fun (or all of the above) memory in each destination.
Then you will be ready and motivated to set up your next year’s best business trip!
