Where to do an Internship?

If you are reading this, it means you have come to the point in your career where you are considering doing an internship so you can obtain practical experience. On previous blogs we have talked about why it is important to do an internship and we have also given you some tips for your resume.

Despite having all that knowledge already, there is still one of the most important things left to decide… where to do an internship?

There is a lot to consider in this process. To begin with, the industry you are planning to work in or the major you are studying is going to be the biggest factor in determining in where you can intern. Your major or industry, along with your passions of course, will determine which activities and areas you would like experience during your internship.

Another important thing to consider is where -and here we mean geographical location- you could best take advantage of an internship. In a globalized world you have many cities and even countries available for your internship, you are not limited to the companies in your town.

Keep in mind that doing an internship abroad will give so much more than doing a local one. You will be gaining language proficiency, cultural exposure, improve your adaptability, communication, soft and hard skills. Of course, your budget will play an essential role in deciding to do an internship outside your home country, but it will also impact your earning abilities after you complete it. Remember, an internship abroad is an exciting life-changing experience!
